Latest Updates from Our Project:

Entering Area 51, and a new interview for you!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Aug 22, 2021 at 10:19:20 PM

We must thank each and every one of you for pushing us past the $50,000 mark, 10 times our original funding goal, in just 5 days! I saw we had just passed that mark last night as I checked my phone before going to bed, but I was amused to see this when I woke up to this morning and logged onto Kickstarter.

Hey, I just thought this was kind of funny! :)

I can't help it. Some of my favorite times of day are 12:34 and 11:11. I just like funny number combinations, so I thought I'd share.

All silliness aside, we are delighted to have unlocked yet ANOTHER stretch goal, with plenty more to come! We also were very excited this Saturday to talk with Roberto Micheri and PJ Deyo from the Dungeons and Dragons Puerto Rico Facebook group about this project and what it means to Boricua gamers and creatives. You can see the full interview here. We hope you enjoy it and help spread the word about this great project to all your friends and fellow gamers! We keep adding more cool stuff (the Pathfinder 2E versions of the three stretch goal adventures already unlocked just came back from development over the weekend, so we'll be adding those to the layout queue shortly), and these books are only going to get better and better!

VTT Questions and Interviews Ahoy!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Aug 20, 2021 at 08:28:40 PM

Hi everyone,

Thanks as always for your amazing support (with a special shout-out to J. Gonzalez as backer #777, since 7 is my favorite number)! We are nearly at 900% funding, unlocking the first set of iconic characters for the Boricubos: The Lost Isles campaign setting, showing off exciting NPCs drawn from the unique races/ancestries of Boricubos for you to easily drop into your campaign! Our stretch goals have already pushed the monster count in Latin American Monsters over 100, with more monster add-ons yet to come like Andean Monsters from Chile, Bolivia, and Peru coming up at $50,000!

We had a few questions on our Discord channel (join the conversation here!) about VTT support, and I have good news!

  • We have checked with our Roll20 folks and we will be able to provide Latin American Monsters module for Roll20! We hadn't been sure about it at first and so only listed it for Fantasy Grounds, but looks like we're good to go! We can use the existing placeholder VTT Module add-on pledge, or if you think it would be clearer to just go ahead and add a new Add-On specifically for Roll20, we can do that too!
  • As far as game systems, Latin American Monsters will be available on Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds or Pathfinder 1E and 2E as well as for DnD 5E.
  • VTT modules for Asian Monsters, Sea Monsters, and Mythos Monsters are DnD 5E ONLY.
  • At present, we are not creating VTT modules for Boricubos: The Lost Isles, due to some technical issues going on with class and race rules stuff and the compendium features of FG and Roll20. We would love to create it in the future, but it's not feasible within the time frame that we are doing the rest of this project, so we'll revisit it later.

Last but not least, we'd like to bring your attention to the INTERVIEWS part of our Kickstarter page and invite you to check out some of our conversations. We sat in with the Nord Games crew to talk about monster design and implementation in general, with several side trips through Latin American Monsters and Boricubos, and followed up with a short solo interview with Ben Barsh from Nord focusing exclusively on this project, including the story of how it came about. You can check out the longer Nord panel discussion on our page or our chat with Ben right here!

In addition, on Saturday morning August 21 at 8 AM PT/11 AM ET, Lead Designer Miguel Colon and LG CEO Jason Nelson will be talking with Roberto Micheri and AJ Delgado from the Dungeons and Dragons Puerto Rico Facebook group about this project and what it means to Boricua gamers and creatives. We look forward to sharing time with them and will post the interview link here so you can check it out!

We will post additional interviews as we have them! We welcome talking with any gamers interested in awesome stuff for D&D and Pathfinder, about Latinx representation in gaming, real-world mythology and RPGs, or any other subjects; if you have a podcast or show you'd like to share with us, by all means let us know!

Another amazing day! And now Discord!

As always, thank yous aplenty for everyone who has helped this project just keep on rising to the top, now closing in on 800% funded after not even a day and a half! We'll be adding even MORE new monsters soon when we hit $40,000, these ones from Patagonia, with another awesome assortment of Andean adversaries coming at $50,000!

While we love hearing from you in the comments and by Kickstarter messenger, we also want to invite you to become part of our other gamer communities!

  • We've just created a new Kickstarter area on our Discord channel, and we invite you to become a part of our community there! Just hit the link and hit us up! We have plenty of other categories as well for 5E, Pathfinder, Starfinder, our ongoing Corefinder project, and just general conversation too with the LG team!
  • Fans of 5E can also join our Legendary Loot Patreon, with brand-new 5E content posted for patrons every single day (and FREE posts for everyone every Friday), plus our monthly magazine The Dragon's Hoard, Legendary Loot cards, and more! Lately we've been showing off previews from Boricubos: The Lost Isles and Latin American Monsters for our patrons too!
  • Fans of Pathfinder and Starfinder can enjoy our Legendary Games Patreon, with posts full of bonus content, ongoing explorations of our Corefinder project creating a revised, streamlined, and enhanced evolution of the Pathfinder RPG, plus tons of previews, special preorders and discounts too!

Whichever is your favorite game, we hope you'll come inside and join one or more of our communities and make them a little bit more Legendary by your presence! Happy gaming and a thousand thanks to all!

Thanks so much for being awesome!

Here we are 10 hours into our first day and we've already blasted through FOUR stretch goals and are well on our way to another, with over 500 backers in the books and counting, with a tip of the Legendary cap to awesomely named Trip-Space Parasite as backer #500!

We've updated the Stretch Goals section to reflect the goals already achieved, including:

  • Unlocking 10 more monsters - 5 from the myths of Mexico and 5 from the legends of Brazil, pushing the total number of creatures in the Latin American Monsters bestiary over 90!
  • Adding the introductory adventure Six Days Till Sacrifice to the Boricubos book!
  • Adding a second adventure for levels 3-5, Prophet of Perdition to the Boricubos book!

Both adventures are written by award-winning designer Tim Hitchcock based on adventure seeds from lead author Miguel Colon, and we are delighted to have Tim's talents on our team too!

Coming soon, we've got even more monsters from Central and South America coming your way, plus a third bonus adventure and more besides!

We are looking forward to many more surprises along the way as you keep pushing this project higher and higher, but we also wanted to share a message (with permission) from one of our backers that made our day in talking about one of the reasons why we wanted to do this project, besides just making cool stuff:

*************************************************

I just wanted to let you guys know that I am really happy you are making this.

My wife is Boricua, and is also often our DM. I read her the short description of the campaign and her response was, "Why don't I already have this in my hand?" I almost wish I hadn't told her about it so that it could be a surprise.

Anyway, I am backing this for both of us. Keep on rockin' on.

*************************************************

We are very happy to make a positive impact on gamer experiences, especially folks who don't always get to see their stories told in RPG books, and we hope every one of you loves using these books as much as we've loved making them!

Thanks for your support and spread the word about Boricubos to all your friends and fellow gamers! Let's make these books truly Legendary!
